FARMVILLE, Va. – As darkness falls across the land, the midnight hour will be close at hand on Monday October 30 when the Longwood baseball team plays its second-annual Spooky Slugfest, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Buddy Bolding Stadium.

Longwood's baseball team will split into two units, the Ghouls and the Goblins, in a split-squad scrimmage as the coaching staff will pitch to each team, officiate the game, and generally try to keep all the characters from causing too much mayhem. The Spooky Slugfest, sponsored by Shentel, will be a hauntingly good time for everyone in attendance.

The Spooky Slugfest is the final event of Longwood's fall practice schedule and is open to the public, free of charge. Kids – and the kids at heart – are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes in the stands. The game will be a five-inning game and each batter will begin with a 2-1 count.

After the action there will be an on-field trick-or-treat around the bases and outfield for kids. Fans are encouraged to come ready to meet the Longwood baseball team, who will be dressed up as their favorite characters come to life. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
