Brown to Miss Rest of Season With Knee Injury

A native of Richmond, Va., Brown averaged 16.0 points in the first three games of the season

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood junior guard Daeisha Brown will miss the rest of the 2014-15 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee, head coach Bill Reinson announced.

Brown suffered the injury in the Nov. 20 game at Richmond. She played in three games in 2014-15 and will apply to the NCAA for a medical redshirt.

"The injury to Daeisha is extremely unfortunate," Reinson said. "She was terrific in our first two games and finally looked like the Daeisha Brown from early last season. Dae Dae is a tough-minded young woman and I have no doubt that she will approach her rehabilitation with the same level of determination and energy that she gives every day in practice. I expect that she will return next season stronger than ever."

A native of Richmond, Va., Brown was Longwood's leading scorer in 2013-14 with 15.3 points per game. She was a Preseason All-Big South selection this season and averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in three games prior to the injury. She scored a career-high 29 points in the season opener against Wake Forest on Nov. 15 and followed with 17 points against Florida on Nov. 17.

For her career, Brown averages 13.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game. If granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA, Brown will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Longwood (0-4) faces William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va., this Saturday, Nov. 29.
