FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University men's soccer team conducted a very successful spring alumni event last month, April 15, with over 22 former Lancers returning to campus.  The friendly game went well with the new guard winning 2-1 over the alums, followed by an evening of fellowship at a local restaurant.  Ninth-year head coach Jon Atkinson and his program are looking forward to the 2012 Alumni Reunion this fall on September 22 when Longwood will host Big South Conference opponent Gardner-Webb University at the Athletics Complex in Farmville at 7 p.m.  More details will be announced at a later date.



An update on former Longwood standout Shane Johnson '12, now a starting defender for the Richmond Kickers of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Pro Division as the Kickers won their second round game in the 2012 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup with a 4-0 shutout past the Aegean Hawks (USASA) May 22.  Johnson and the Kickers will next host DC United of Major League Soccer (MLS) on May 29 at Richmond City Stadium at 7 p.m.
