FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University women's basketball head coach
Bill Reinson has announced four roster additions for 2011-12. Joining the Lancers are junior
Mieke Elkington|Hamilton, New Zealand (Cochise College) and freshmen
Rianna Frazer|Owings Mills, Md. (Seton Keough),
Jessica Parker|Clayton, N.C. (Clayton) and
Jocelyn Lawrence|Clarksville (Bluestone).
“We are very excited to welcome Jessica, Rianna, Mieke and Jocelyn to the Longwood family,” said Reinson. “They are all talented, hard-working young ladies with high character; exactly the type of student-athletes that we want to build our program around.”
Elkington, a 5-7 guard, played two years of basketball at Cochise College in Arizona where she averaged 10.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game during 2010-11. She helped Church College of New Zealand to the 2007 New Zealand National Championship and was named to the National Tournament Team.
Frazer, a 5-4 guard, was a four-year team member and three-year starter for Seton Keough. She finished her high school career with 240 assists and 100 steals and led her team in assists as a junior and senior. She helped Seton Keough to 90 wins during her four years with the program, including one Interscholastic Athletics Association of Maryland championship in three appearances.
Parker, a 6-2 forward, played four years of varsity basketball. She averaged 13 points per game as a senior and earned the team's offensive award. Parker helped the team to a sixth-place finish at the 2010 GlaxoSmithKline Tournament.
Lawrence, a 6-2 forward, earned Second-Team All-District honors as a senior at Bluestone. She was also a regional qualifier in track and field as a sophomore and junior in high school.
