FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University will host Lehigh University of the Patriot League in men's basketball action Monday night, December 28, at 7 p.m. in Willett Hall (1,807) on-campus in Farmville.  The Lancers and Mountain Hawks are meeting for just the second-time ever.  Longwood (3-9) is coached by seventh-year head coach MIke Gillian, and will be led by sophomore center Antwan Carter who is averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds.  Lehigh (5-6) is coached by third-year head coach Brett Reed and is led by freshman guard CJ McCollum (11.7 points).  Tickets remain and will be available at the Willett Hall Ticket Office or by calling 434.395.2138.

Series History
Longwood and Lehigh have played just one time previously in the sport of men’s basketball. The Mountain Hawks have a 1-0 edge in the young series, winning that first game by a score of 72-57 at Lehigh last December 28. Lehigh was led by Zahir Carrington with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Durann Neil scored 18 points (6-10 3FG) a year ago to lead Longwood, while Dana Smith added 11 points.

A Look At Lehigh
Lehigh is coached by third-year head coach Brett Reed. The Mountain Hawks of the Patriot League have a record of 5-6 after their 66-55 home win past winless Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Marist College last Tuesday (12.22). Lehigh is led by freshman CJ McCollum (11.7 points), a first-year starter who has earned a spot in the lineup this season over a returning starter from a year ago. Others expected in the lineup are seniors Dave Buchberger (5.1 points), Zahir Carrington (7.5 points, 5.8 rebounds), and Marquis Hall (10.4 points, 5.3 assists), along with freshman Gabe Knutson (7.5 points, 6.6 rebounds).

A Look At Longwood
Longwood is 3-9 after its 88-80 home win past Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Campbell University last Tuesday (12.22). The Lancers are led by sophomore Antwan Carter who has averaged 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds off the bench this year, and redshirt-senior Dana Smith who is averaging 15.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. Also in the lineup are seniors E.J. Dawson (3.7 points, 3.1 assists), Billy Robinson Jr. (7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds), and Kevin Swecker (8.6 points, 21 3FG), along with sophomore Martiz Washington (7.1 points, 21 3FG).

Home Sweet Home
Longwood is 37-19 (.661) at home in Willett Hall over the past four-plus seasons, including a 3-2 mark this year following a 13-2 home record last season. The Lancers were 7-5 during 2007-08, 8-4 during 2005-06, while 6-6 during 2006-07. Longwood is 240-128 (.652) all-time (29-plus seasons) in Willett Hall.
