NEWARK, N.J. -- Longwood University won its third-straight men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon, defeating host NJIT 64-55 on the road in Newark, New Jersey. The Lancers (7-16) won just their second road game of the season and were led by redshirt-senior Dana Smith/Woodbridge, Va. (C.D. Hylton) with a game-high 19 points. The Highlanders (7-14) were led by Chris Flores with 17 points. Longwood remains on the road to play at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Monday night, February 8, in Teaneck, New Jersey beginning at 7 p.m..

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University rallied from a late 10-point deficit to take a thrilling 70-66 come-from-behind men’s basketball home victory past visiting Big South Conference member High Point University Tuesday night at Willett Hall in Farmville. The Lancers (6-16) trailed 64-54 with under four minutes remaining before outscoring the Panthers (11-11) 16-2 over the final 3:35, tying it at 66-66 on a three-point field goal by senior Kevin Swecker/Manchester, Md. (Mount Saint Joseph) at :48.6, and junior Aaron Mitchell/Matoaca (Manatee CC) made the two go-ahead free throws at :22.6 before redshirt-senior Dana Smith/Woodbridge (C.D. Hylton) sealed the outcome with two more free throws at :02.7. Sophomore Antwan Carter/St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) led LU with 19 points, followed by Mitchell with 18 points, and Smith with his seventh double-double of 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. HPU was led by Nick Barbour with a game-high 20 points. Longwood will play again on Saturday afternoon, February 6, on the road at NJIT of the Great West Conference in Newark, New Jersey beginning at 2 p.m..

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University will host High Point University of the Big South Conference in men's basketball action Tuesday night, February 2, at 7 p.m. in Willett Hall (1,807) on-campus in Farmville. The Lancers and Panthers are meeting for the 19th-time overall since 1984, and for the first time since last Feb. 23. Longwood (5-16) is coached by seventh-year head coach Mike Gillian, and will be led by redshirt-senior Dana Smith who is averaging 17.4 points and 7.2 rebounds. HPU (11-10) is coached by first-year head coach Scott Cherry and is led by sophomore guard Nick Barbour (18.8 points). The Lancers (5-16) were playing their first home game since December 28 following seven-straight on the road, and were led by redshirt-senior Dana Smith/Woodbridge (C.D. Hylton) with his sixth double-double this year of 24 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore Antwan Carter/St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) added his fourth double-double with career-highs of 20 points and 19 rebounds. The Division II Shock (4-14) were led by Jamie Newton with a game-high 31 points. Longwood will remain at home and play again on Tuesday night, February 2, hosting High Point University of the Big South Conference at Willett Hall in Farmville -- a game designated as “Greek Night” and "White-Out" beginning at 7 p.m..
