RICHMOND, Va. – The Longwood University women's tennis team fell, 3-2, against Morgan State University in the squad's season opener played in Richmond, Va. Sophomore
Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) won the only singles match of the day at #3, earning the point in two sets with scores of 7-5 and 6-1. The Lancers return to action on Sunday, February 3 at the University of Richmond beginning at 1:30 p.m.
"The girls played very hard today, and as a coach, that is all I can ever ask," said assistant coach
Casey Wharton. "Our opponents were very tough, but I felt we made them earn it. Although I am still getting to know our players and their styles of play, it was made very obvious to me that they are fighters. I love to coach players who never give anything away."
Longwood also won the doubles point as senior

Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) dropped the #2 singles match 7-5, 1-6, 0-6, while junior
Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley) fell in the #4 match 6-1, 6-0.
