BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Longwood University women's tennis team was represented at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on October 19-22. Sophomore
Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) was the lone singles competitor for Longwood and finished with a 0-1 record. Allurgin also competed in doubles play with junior teammate
Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley). Longwood will begin its spring schedule on February 3, 2013 at the University of Richmond.
“This weekend, Malin and Sarah got to see and experience the next level of collegiate tennis,” said head coach
Jakob Gustafsson. “The gap was too great to overcome this time, but I believe they realized they are able to get to this level and will do much better the next time around. We will keep working hard to achieve that level of play.”
Allgurin lost her round of 64 match to Nika Khmolovska of Old Dominion University in two sets (3-6, 4-6). In the first round of doubles competition, Allgurin and Moomau (0-1) fell to a pair from George Washington (4-8).
