The Longwood University Athletics Media Relations Office serves as the intermediary between the Lancers' 14 intercollegiate athletics programs and local, state and national media. The office works closely with the administration, coaches, student-athletes and the University to enhance the publicity and promotion for the department and its student-athletes on the field of competition, in the classroom as well as the community. Official Interview Policy
All interviews with Longwood University Athletics administration, coaches, and/or student-athletes must be arranged with the Athletics Media Relations office. All interviews with the student-athletes will be arranged around their respective academic class schedules and/or practice times.
Credential Requests (Men’s & Women’s Basketball Only)
All requests for media credentials and photography passes must be arranged via the Athletics Media Relations Office as early as possible by contacting associate athletics director for media relations Greg Prouty. All credentials will be available for pickup at the Willett Hall Ticket Office at the main entrance to the building. Only legitimate requests will be granted. All Photographers must shoot from the baselines, and positions are at the judgment of the game’s officials and/or the Athletics Media Relations Office at all times.
Game Day Services (Men’s & Women’s Basketball Only)
Parking: Media parking spaces will be available upon request on a limited basis. The media parking spaces are located in the Hull Building parking lot, adjacent to Willett Hall. Please be sure to make your parking request when making your credential and/or photography request.
Media Services: Longwood University via the Athletics Media Relations Office uses computerized statistics. All working media will receive an official game program and notes, halftime box score, and a final game box score, including play-by-play scoring.
Post-Game Interviews: Head coaches Mike Gillian and Kristin Caruso will be available approximately 10 minutes after each home game in the Administrative Office area located off the main hallway in Willett Hall. When requested, and if accommodating, visiting head coaches will be made available as well following Coach Gillian and/or Coach Caruso. All Interviews with requested student-athletes will take place in the Administrative Office area located off the main hallway in Willett Hall approximately 10-15 minutes after each home game.
Media Room: A media work room is located in the Administrative Office area located off the main hallway in Willett Hall. Reporters may also work from press row after the game.
Telephones: A limited number of telephones are available in the media work room.
Faxing: The Longwood University Athletics Media Relations Office will provide faxing of the final game box score to media outlets of opposing teams. Please contact associate athletics director for media relations Greg Prouty.
Visiting Radio: Stations wishing to broadcast games from Willett Hall must make arrangements via the Athletics Media Relations Office by contacting associate athletics director for media relations Greg Prouty to inform the office of intended broadcast.
Pizza & Soft Drinks: Pizza, courtesy of the local Domino’s Pizza in Farmville, and Pepsi products, courtesy of Pepsi-Cola, will be available in the media work room in the Administrative Office area located off the main hallway in Willett Hall.

The Longwood University Athletics Media Relations office offers an e-mail service for updates on all Lancer Athletics News. Subscribers may receive updates on all Longwood Athletics, or request updates on specific sports only. Media members may request and obtain individual digital head & shoulder and/or action images of Longwood University Athletics administration, coaching staff members, and/or student-athletes; the Longwood University Athletics logo; and the institution’s logo via electronic files. The official Internet website for Longwood University Athletics was re-designed during the fall of 2009 and re-launched just prior to the 2009-10 season. SIDEARM Sports, formerly known as Internet Consulting Services, Inc., of Syracuse, New York created www.longwoodlancers.com, originally launching in early October 2003 prior to the 2003-04 season utilizing its key web-based content management solution technology, SIDEARM (Sports Information Distribution Engine with Archives and Records Management). The site has since been re-designed three times, including the most-recent, and is maintained daily by the Athletics Media Relations office. The website contains information on each of Longwood’s 14 Division I intercollegiate sports, including comprehensive team information and statistics; coaching staff information; administrative staff information; and other important Longwood Athletics news and information. The site also features social media links to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, an Apparel Store, a Photo Store, Live Stats, RSS Feeds, and SMS Text Messaging.
Social/New Media
The Longwood University Athletics Media Relations office utilizes its social and new media outlets (Facebook, YouTube and Twitter) to promote and publicize the Lancers' 14 intercollegiate athletics programs. Facebook and Twitter are used to post every media release that appears on our Internet website, www.longwoodlancers.com. Both outlets are additionally used to highlight video published on the LongwoodULancers YouTube channel, while Twitter is additionally utilized for in-game tweets at most home events.
