LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Longwood University posted a 3-3 baseball tie at Liberty University Sunday afternoon at Worthington Stadium in Lynchburg, a game that was ruled official through six innings due to heavy rain. The Lancers are now 22-25-1 while the Flames of the Big South Conference are 28-23-1 overall. Longwood will play again on Tuesday night, May 13, hosting Radford University of the Big South in its home finale at Lancer Stadium in Farmville at 7 p.m..

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University dropped a baseball doubleheader to visiting Liberty University Saturday afternoon at Lancer Stadium, falling 5-3 in the first game and 12-4 in the second game. The Lancers are now 22-25 while the Flames of the Big South Conference improved to 28-23 overall. The Lancers improved their record to 22-23 while stopping a recent five-game losing streak, and the host Panthers dropped to 18-27 overall. Farmville, Va. - The Longwood University women’s tennis team was honored with 2008 All-Independent honors on Tuesday, as junior Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) earned second-team singles honors from the No. 6 spot, while also earning second-team doubles honors with teammate senior Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) from the No. 3 spot. Freshman Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) and sophomore Laura Simon/Manresa, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) picked up second-team doubles honors from the No. 2 position.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Longwood University dropped baseball doubleheader at Duke University Monday in Durham, North Carolina, falling 6-4 in the first game and 10-3 in the second game. The Lancers are now 21-23 while the Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) improved to 33-14-1 overall, including 25-0 against non-ACC schools. The Lancers are now 21-21 while the Tribe of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) improved to 34-13 overall. Longwood Finishes 4th At Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Longwood University fired rounds of 295 and 296, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday in men’s golf for a 36-hole total of 591 to finish in fourth-place among 21 teams at the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia. The host Cavaliers won their own event with a two-day total of 282-293–575 at the 6,879-yard, par 72 Birdwood Golf Club. Longwood completed its regular season with the competition near Charlottesville this weekend.

Jerome Kersey Inducted Into Virginia Sports Hall of Fame - Class of 2008

Farmville, Va. -- Former Longwood University All-America men's basketball player Jerome Kersey was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night as a member of the Class of 2008 chosen by vote of the Honors Court committee. The 37th annual induction ceremony took place on April 26, 2008 at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel andamp; Waterfront Conference Center, as the crowning event of Hall of Fame Weekend.
