Head Coach Kevin Fillman: “When you think about what Austin did for us during the fall, you have to realize how far he’s come and how much his game has matured in the past year.  Ever since I’ve known him, I’ve viewed him as a strong, athletic kid who had a lot of potential.  We’re now beginning to see that potential translate into results.  Austin’s bought into some changes since he’s been here, and, if that continues, I’m certain he’ll be one of the players who we count on heavily for the remainder of his career.”

Fall 2009: Averaged career-best 74.31 through 13 rounds … Career-best 18-hole score (69) at William and Mary/Joe Agee Invitational … Career-best 36-hole score of 143 (74-69) at William and Mary/Joe Agee Invitational … Career-best 54-hole score of 220 (72-74-74) at Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate … Two top five finishes among two top 20’s.

2008-09: Averaged 80.11 through nine rounds … Season-best 18-hole score (76) at Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate and Long Island/Lonnie Barton Memorial Invitational … Season-best 36-hole score of 155 (76-79) at Long Island/Lonnie Barton Memorial Invitational … Season-best 54-hole score of 241 (82-76-83) at Longwood/Manor Intercollegiate … one top 20 finish.

JUNIOR/AMATEUR: Qualified for both 2009 Virginia Amateur and Open (75-70) … Advanced to third round at 2009 Virginia Amateur (73-71 in stroke-play qualifying … Tied for 35th at 2009 Virginia Open (75-71-70-75) … Advanced to second round of 2009 Richmond Amateur (74 in stroke-play qualifying) … Played in 2008 Virginia Junior (74-79-76) … Tied for eighth at Future Collegian World Tour-Tanglewood Junior (76-76) … Finished 19th at 2007 AJGA-Smithfield Junior (77-73) … Finished 54th at 2007 Virginia Junior (78-76-80) … Finished fifth at 2007 U.S. Junior Qualifier (73-74) … Finished third at 2006 Virginia Amateur/Open Qualifier (74-68).
