Amanda Steinhagen Named To VaSID All-State First Team

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University junior Amanda Steinhagen/Oak Hill has been named to the 2013 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Women's Golf First Team, as recently announced by the statewide organization.  University of Virginia senior Brittany Altomare was voted the VaSID Player of the Year, Paul Gooden of James Madison University was voted Coach of the Year, and Randolph-Macon College freshman Olivia Bowling was selected as Rookie of the Year.

Steinhagen led Longwood with her 75.81 scoring average that helped her to one top-five effort among three top-10 and five top-20 finishes overall this year.  Her low scores this year included a team-best and career-best 18-hole score of 68 at the Yale Women's Intercollegiate, a 36-hole score of 145 (74-71) at the Campbell/Fighting Camel Fall Classic and a 54-hole score of 220 (77-74-69) at the Penn State/Nittany Lion Invitational.  Steinhagen has a career average of 75.65 through three years and 80 rounds to rank first all-time at Longwood.

Altomare averaged 72.23 and was a First Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, also earning Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year honors, after winning the ACC Championship.  Gooden led the Dukes to their first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title since 2005 and an appearance in the NCAA East Regional.  Bowling took medalist honors at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship, while named the ODAC Rookie of the Year, helping the Yellow Jackets to the ODAC title in the program's first year of existence.
