FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University season-opening baseball series scheduled for this weekend, February 16-17, against visiting Saint Peter's University at Bolding Stadium in Farmville has been canceled due to wet snow on Saturday and the subsequent overnight freezing temperatures that has kept the field unplayable on Sunday. The Lancers will now open their 2013 campaign on the road at in-state opponent James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. in Harrisonburg. Longwood is scheduled to play its home opener at Bolding Stadium against Fairfield University on Friday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m., the first of a three-game series next weekend in Farmville.
