FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University freshman Brooke Short/Altavista (Altavista) earned ECAC Division I First Team All-Star recognition as the designated player after a vote by the league’s head coaches. Short led the Lancers with a .436 batting average, 13 home runs, six triples and an .808 slugging percentage. This most recent honor comes in addition to a spot on the NFCA Southeast Region Second Team and NCAA Division I Independent Co-Freshman of the Year honors.

Short started all 52 games and led team in batting average (.436), home runs (13), triples (6), slugging percentage (.808), walks (25), intentional walks (8), on-base percentage (.532) and tied for the team lead with 42 RBI. She set Longwood single-season record for runs scored and home runs and tied the record for walks in a season. Short had a 12-game hitting streak to start season (.465, 20-43) and added 19 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games.
