FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University will host the inaugural National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) Tournament on May 1-3 at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The top-seeded Lancers will open the tournament against fourth-seeded Howard University on Friday, May 1 at 12 p.m., followed by second-seeded University of Detroit Mercy against third-seeded Presbyterian College at 3 p.m. The winners of the two games on Friday will meet Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. in the NLC Tournament Championship. The other two teams will play in a consolation match at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Longwood (9-6) is 8-1 at the Athletics Complex this season, including wins over all three conference opponents. Sophomore
Karli Brentlinger/Gambrills, Md. (South River) leads Longwood with 36 goals while sophomore
Kesley Dean/Centreville, Md. (Queen Anne’s) has 24 goals and a team-high 19 assists. Junior
Carlie Nethken/Hanover, Md. (Long Reach) anchors a defense that has allowed 10.93 goals per game. Sophomore
Juli Liebig/Centreville, Md. (Queen Anne’s) has played in goal for 561 of the teams 900 minutes, posting a .458 save percentage and an 8-4 record.
Howard (1-11) is led by Sakita Holley who has scored 41 goals and Ashley Lawrence with 13 goals. Longwood defeated the Bison 21-6 on April 2. Seniors

Cara O'Brien/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) along with freshman
Karen Nirschl/Herndon (Bishop O’Connell) each scored three goals in the Lancers’ win.
Detroit (4-7) fell at Longwood 19-3 on April 4 and went 2-0 against Howard and Presbyterian. Emily Boissonneault leads the Titans with 42 goals while Anna Eidem has 28 goals and six assists. Senior
Liz Sellmayer/Baltimore, Md. (Mount de Sales Academy) scored five goals and Dean added two goals and three assists in the win.
Presbyterian (2-10) went 0-2 against Longwood and Detroit. Six Lancers scored two goals in Longwood’s 20-6 win and
Page Farmer/Richmond (St. Catherine’s) added four assists. The Blue Hose are led by Brittni Dulaney with 22 goals and 12 assists.
