FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University Athletics and the Farmville Wal-Mart Supercenter conducted a special promotion August 21 to celebrate the store's new “Lancer Country” section which features Lancer apparel and merchandise. The two-hour promotion included appearances by members of the Longwood Women's Soccer team and head coach
Todd Dyer '93.
“Wal-Mart is a major retail center within the Farmville area and we are excited about this opportunity,” said
Troy Austin, Longwood Director of Athletics. “We see this as the beginning of a long relationship.”
During the event, customers signed-up for three grand prizes that were given away at halftime of the season-opening women's soccer home match against Liberty University last Friday. First prize went to Robert Biddle of Ruther Glen ($100 Wal-Mart Gift Card); second prize went to Vickie Grove of Farmville (two season tickets for men's and women's basketball); and third prize went to Tracy Smith of Northumberland, Pennsylvania (Wal-Mart Lancer gear).
