FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University won its third consecutive women’s soccer match Tuesday night, taking a 4-0 shutout victory past visiting Virginia Military Institute from the Big South Conference at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The Lancers scored three goals on penalty kicks, all by senior captain Lauren Trizna|Manassas (Osbourn Park) for the rare hat-trick, en route to their home triumph. Longwood improved its record to 3-2 this season and will return to action this weekend on Sunday, September 5, on the road at Long Island University of the Northeast Conference in Brooklyn, New York beginning at 12 p.m.

The Lancers spotted the Lady Bulldogs an early goal before responding with two goals within four minutes (3:52) en route to their home triumph. Longwood will return to action on Tuesday night, August 31, hosting VMI of the Big South Conference at the Athletics Complex in Farmville beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University women's soccer team will host “Joshua Bolt Day” on Sunday, August 29, as the Lancers welcome South Carolina State University to the Athletics Complex on Johnston Drive at 1 p.m. The team will recognize Joshua and the Bolt family during a special pre-game ceremony before dedicating the match against the Lady Bulldogs to Joshua. Longwood enters the match with a record of 1-2, while S.C. State brings a record of 1-0-1 into the afternoon contest. Admission is free.

The Lancers scored two early goals within 55-seconds and never looked back en route to their shutout triumph. FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University opened its 2010-11 intercollegiate athletics campaign this past Sunday, August 22, with The GAME (Greatest Athletics March Ever). The Lancers played the University of Richmond from the Atlantic 10 Conference in women's soccer at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The highly anticipated contest was played before a raucous and record-crowd of over 1,300 in a match that the Spiders won 1-0. A picnic, pep rally, and a march from campus to the soccer facility on Johnston Drive took place prior to the opening kick.
