FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University women’s soccer team has been named as a recipient of the 2008-09 NSCAA Team Academic Award. The Lancers attained this prestigious team academic honor with their overall team GPA of 3.09 during the 2008-09 academic year, as recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The NSCAA recently honored 335 intercollegiate women’s programs from all Divisions who posted team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher for 2008-09.

FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University Women’s Soccer team is conducting a Silent Auction November 4-13 of game jerseys to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in honor of the late Andrew H. McConnell. The game jerseys were made specifically for the recent season finale on November 1 as the Lancers defeated NJIT 2-1. Each game-worn jersey has ‘AHM’ for Andrew in the upper left chest, and all jerseys will be bid on based on the number shown on the jersey. All proceeds from the Silent Auction will be donated to the WWP on behalf of Andrew H. McConnell.

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took an exciting come-from-behind 2-1 victory in women’s soccer past visiting New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Sunday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Junior Alex Myers/Stafford (Colonial Forge) scored the game-winning goal at 70:08 for the Lancers in the season finale on Senior Day. Longwood completed its 2009 campaign with a final record of 9-8-1, marking the fourth consecutive winning season for the program under veteran 16th-year head coach Todd Dyer ‘93 who earned the 175th win of his coaching career (175-104-16).

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University plays host to NJIT and the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in a women’s soccer match this Sunday, November 1, beginning at 3 p.m. to honor those men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have been severely injured during conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. The contest, specifically honoring the late Andrew H. McConnell, will take place at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. It’s Senior Day as well on Sunday afternoon and admission is free.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Longwood University dropped a 1-0 women’s soccer road decision at Howard University Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers are now 8-8-1 overall, while the Bison improved to 4-8-2 overall. Longwood has just one final contest remaining this Sunday, November 1, as NJIT visits the Athletics Complex in Farmville for Senior Day beginning at 3 p.m.. Admission is free.
