FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University men’s soccer senior defender Martin Vickerton/Derbyshire, England (Kirk Hallam CTC) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Atlantic Third Team. This is the second time that Vickerton has earned Third-Team All-Region honors as the senior garnered the same recognition following the 2006 season.

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men’s soccer team defeated Houston Baptist University 3-2 in the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) tournament semifinals on Friday night at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Senior Martin Vickerton/Derbyshire, England (Kirk Hallam CTC) scored a pair of goals, including one on a penalty kick, and classmate Brian Germain/McLean (Langley) added a pair of assists to propel the Lancers to victory. Longwood returns to action on Sunday, November 15, when it takes on Adelphi University in the ASC championship game at 12 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.

FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University had six student-athletes honored by the Atlantic Soccer Conference on Thursday night at the ASC Awards Banquet in Farmville. Junior forward Harvey Headley/Coventry, England (Stoke Park) and senior midfielder Brian Germain/McLean (Langley) earned First-Team All-ASC honors after a vote by the league’s head coaches. Senior Martin Vickerton/Derbyshire, England (Kirk Hallam CTC) and freshman Patrick McDaniel/Midlothian (Cosby) were named to the second team. Sophomores Shane Johnson/Ashburn (Broad Run) and Zack Mahon/San Antonio, Texas (William Howard Taft) earned a spot on the ASC All-Academic team. Longwood returns to action on Friday, November 13, when it plays Houston Baptist in the ASC Tournament semifinals at 6 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University is set to host the 2009 Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament on November 12-15 at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The action gets underway on Thursday, November 12, when #4 Howard University takes on the #5 New Jersey Institute of Technology at 3 p.m.. In semifinal action on Friday, #1 Adelphi University will face the winner of Thursday’s match at 3 p.m., followed by #2 Longwood taking on #3 Houston Baptist University at 6 p.m.. The championship match is set for Sunday, November 15, at 12 p.m. at the Athletics Complex. Admission is free to all matches.
