RICHMOND, Va. - The Longwood University men’s soccer team dropped a 3-2 double-overtime decision to the University of Richmond of the Atlantic 10 Conference on Wednesday evening at Ukrop Park in Richmond. Senior Harvey Headley | Coventry, England (Stoke Park) and junior Zack Mahon | San Antonio, Texas (William Howard Taft) each scored for Longwood (0-1). Richmond’s Spencer Schiff scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute. The Lancers return to action on Saturday, September 4, when they host Liberty University of the Big South Conference at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University dropped a 1-0 men’s soccer exhibition to visiting Loyola University on Saturday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Loyola scored the only goal of the match on a breakaway by Sam Bradley who beat the goalkeeper outside the penalty box and took another dribble before sending the ball into the far corner. Longwood will open its 2010 regular season on Wednesday, September 1, when they travel to Richmond to take on the University of Richmond of the Atlantic-10 Conference at 6 p.m.. The Lancers play their first home match on Saturday, September 4, when they host Liberty University of the Big South Conference at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men’s soccer team finished 2009 with a 6-12-2 record while going 5-2 at home at the Athletics Complex. The Lancers posted a 2-2 mark in the Atlantic Soccer Conference where they will compete again this season. Longwood is guided by sixth-year head coach Jon Atkinson and second-year assistant coach Eduardo de Souza and return seven starters among 14 letterwinners while welcoming seven newcomers. The Lancers open the 2010 campaign on Wednesday, September 1, when they travel to Richmond to take on the University of Richmond at 6 p.m.. Longwood will host a home exhibition game against Loyola University on Saturday, August 28, at 1 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission to all men’s soccer matches is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University men's soccer alum and native of Honduras David Granada '98 recently attended several 2010 FIFA World Cup™ matches in South Africa along with his wife Emma and daughter Emma Andrea. The Granada family watched all three Group H matches involving Honduras versus Chile, Spain, and Switzerland, along with the United States' Group C match against Slovenia and a Group A match between host South Africa and France. Granada said the experience was "a dream come true ..."
