FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University field hockey carried a 6-2 decision past visiting Siena College on Tuesday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Senior Lauren van de Kamp | Midlothian (Trinity Episcopal) scored a pair of goals, including one on a penalty stroke, to lead the Lancers. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, September 4, when it hosts 10th-ranked Duke University of the Atlantic Coast Conference at 1 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University field hockey dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to visiting Ball State University on Friday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The Lancers were led by senior Kimberly Sullivan | Fredericksburg (Stafford) and junior Amanda Babineau | Stafford (Mountain View) with one goal each. Ball State’s Devanny Kuhn scored the winning goal 11:01 in to the first overtime period. Longwood (0-1) returns to action on Tuesday, August 31, when they host Siena College at 3 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Admission to all field hockey matches at the Athletics Complex is free.

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University field hockey team will look to improve on last year’s 10-11 record and fourth-place finish at the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac) tournament during 2010. Third-year head coach Iain Byers and the Lancers return six starters and 15 total letterwinners from last year’s squad and welcome six newcomers. Longwood is set to face a difficult schedule, including four matches against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Longwood opens the season on Friday, August 27, when it hosts Ball State University at 3 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.

FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University field hockey head coach Iain Byers has announced his 2010 schedule, featuring eight home matches at the Athletics Complex in Farmville, including a home date against defending NCAA champion North Carolina. Longwood finished 2009 with a 10-11 record, including 4-2 in Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac) competition and a fourth-place finish in the NorPac Tournament. The Lancers went 5-3 in home contests last season, including a perfect 3-0 in NorPac matches.
