FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University senior Kelsey Turner/Virginia Beach (Tallwood) has been named to the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac) All-Tournament team. The senior defender had two assists and two defensive saves in the tournament. She had one assist in the Lancers’ 3-1 win over Pacific and another in Longwood’s 3-2 loss to Radford in the consolation match.

STANFORD, Calif. – The Longwood University field hockey team fell dropped a 3-2 decision to Radford University in the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Tournament Consolation Match on Saturday afternoon in Stanford, California. Senior Julia Hernandez/Norfolk (Maury) and freshman Christina Verhulst/Yorktown (Grafton) each scored for the Lancers. Longwood finished the season with a 10-11 record and a 4-2 mark in conference play.

STANFORD, Calif. – The Longwood University field hockey team fell to 15th-ranked Stanford University 6-1 in the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference semifinals on Friday afternoon in Stanford, California. The Lancers’ kept the match close in the first half, trailing 2-1 at halftime. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, November 7, against either California and Radford at 2 p.m. in Stanford in the consolation match.

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University senior Julia Hernandez/Norfolk (Maury) has been named the 2009 Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac) East Division Player of the Year and East Division Offensive Player of the Year at the annual NorPac Conference Awards Banquet held at Stanford University’s Arrillaga Family Sports Center. Hernandez also earned a spot on the All-NorPac First Team while sophomore Olga Knop/Berlin, Germany (Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium) and junior Lauren van de Kamp/Midlothian (Trinity Episcopal) were named to the All-NorPac Second Team. The second-seeded Lancers open NorPac Tournament play on Thursday, November 5, when they face the third-seed from the West Division, the University of the Pacific, at 2 p.m. EST in Stanford, California.
