FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University won four of its final six games of the 2012 season this past week, including a 4-1 victory past Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) member James Madison University in its final home game at Charles
Buddy Bolding Stadium in Farmville on May 15. The Lancers also won three of four season-ending road games (2-0, 2-1, 4-3, 3-16) at Rider University of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on May 18-19 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, while dropping a 13-1 decision at the College of William and Mary of the CAA on May 14 in Williamsburg. Longwood completed its campaign with a final record of 27-21 for the 31st winning season in the program's 35-year history -- also the 31st overall 20-win campaign, and 24th season with at least 25 wins.

Kyler Morgan|Lancaster, Pa. (Lampeter-Strasburg) had the pitching win in the second game. Longwood has now attained its 24th season with at least 25 wins in the program's 35-year history, and will play a season-ending doubleheader at Rider on Saturday, May 19, in New Jersey beginning at 12 p.m.

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University men's basketball head coach
Mike Gillian has announced that Anthony Banks|Roanoke (North Cross-Monroe College) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lancers next season. The 6-7, 215-pound forward played the past two seasons at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York after a standout high school career in the Roanoke Valley at North Cross and Patrick Henry while earning All-State honors and surpassing 1,000 career points. Banks averaged 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds at Monroe this past season, helping the Mustangs to a record of 33-4 and a fifth-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I National Tournament.
